Extend your home with an Outdoor Room
With the long Indian Summer we're enjoying down under here in Australia and New Zealand, it's time we check out some inspiring outdoor rooms. Create an outdoor living space, and you're essentially extending your home, adding a second family room or dining room!
How magical is this? Comfy outdoor chairs (plus a super cool chevron ottoman) and a stocked drinks cart, all under the most wonderful lighting. Fairy lights are not just for Christmas time - and we love how they've dressed this gorgeous old tree in them.
Several great outdoor ideas to steal in one picture! The owner of this otherwise-ordinary deck has draped makeshift curtains for a luxe and intimate dinner party look, and anchored her dining furniture with a stylish rug to really finish off the outdoor room. We also love the candle lanterns hanging from the pergola to create soft mood lighting. Can we come for tea too?
These hanging copper planters create the most lush outdoor privacy screen and look gorgeous too. (There's a DIY for them over on the Martha Stewart website)
Now this is an outdoor room - a perfectly planned and balanced space for dining and lounging, plus plenty of privacy thanks to the recessed design and lots of leafy trees. Now all it needs is one of our designer hammocks!
This is such a fun idea - and a possibility even if you don't have a lot of space. Extend your kitchen/dining area by adding sliding or french windows out to a patio or deck. A sturdy ledge and a couple of designer chairs (bar stools are best) is all you need to create a stylish little servery!
We can't all afford a waterfront, architecturally-designed home but we can all daydream about living in one! This outdoor room combines a superb view with stunning designer furniture and - our fave - a roaring outdoor fire. Yes please!
